The Surprising Truth About Pickle-flavored Lip Balm

Looking for the perfect stocking-stuffer for a loved one who has everything?

Here’s an idea:

Pickle Lip Balm.

Yeah, you heard me right.

Pickle Lip Balm is a real thing.

You can buy a gherkin-sized tube of Mr. Pickle’s World-Famous Pickle Lip Balm on Amazon for the low, low price of $11.95.

Warning: You may not like it.

I checked out the Amazon reviews and found several unhappy customers.

No surprise there.

But get this: Many complained the lip balm wasn’t PICKLE-Y enough.

“False advertising!” barked a critic named Meally. “I bought this for my sister because she loves using lip balm. What a disappointment to hear it tastes nothing like a pickle.”

Mel moaned, “I got this as a gift for a friend who LOVES dill pickles… It tasted like green apple, NOT dill pickle. What a huge embarrassment, disappointment, and waste of money.”

And Claire complained, “Sweet minty flavor. Not like a dill pickle at all. Stocking gift for my pickle loving husband. We were both disappointed with the absence of pickle smell or flavor.”

Lots to learn from the Dill Pickle Lip Balm scandal.

Here’s one critical lesson…

You don’t know what makes your prospects and customers tick until and unless you LISTEN TO THEM.

When I heard about Dill Pickle Lip Balm I assumed it was simply a gag gift.

thought no one wants to smear their lips with waxy goo that smells and tastes like dill pickles.

I thought wrong.

Business people make the same mistake all the time. They make assumptions about their prospects and customers. They imagine what makes their prospects and customers tick.

But they don’t dig deep enough. They don’t listen to what their prospects and customers are saying. So they get the story wrong.

That’s why I focus with my clients on how to discover their prospects’ stories.

Story discovery begins with what you think you know about your prospects. But it doesn’t end there.

If you want to get the story right so prospects do business with you and give you 5-star reviews, you have to dig deeper.

If you want to know how, I’ll show you (see options below).
