I Have to Share This…

reading Pappyland by Wright Thompson

Sometimes I stumble across something in a book, movie, television show, or wherever and think, “I have to share this in an email.”

It happened last night. I was reading Pappyland by Wright Thompson (must reading if you enjoy bourbon). And I came to the part where he describes his father:

“He was magnetic and kind and generous and taught me so many lessons, like to never feel jealous of other peopleā€™s success, and to try to see the best in people and to have empathy for whatever might be causing or fueling their worst behaviors.”

(My emphasis).

Wow, that’s good. Reminds me of something Jim Rohn said:

“Learn how to turn frustration into fascination. You will learn more being fascinated by life than you will by being frustrated by it.”

Words to live by.

That doesn’t mean you tolerate or ignore “worst behaviors.”

It means you condemn the acts, not the actors.

It means you respond with curiosity, empathy, and a spirit of discovery.

You will learn more. You will connect more. You will grow more.

Don't go away yet..
