Discussed in this Episode:

  • How to create automated, interactive experiences that delight prospects and donā€™t feel inauthentic and robotic.
  • Why itā€™s critical that your prospects feel ā€œseen and heardā€ when they visit your site ā€“ and how to make that happen.
  • The business-building power of Ninja-Niches.

The Power of “Sheer Ignorance”

Orson Welles died on this day (Oct. 10) in 1985 when he was 70.

He was 25 when he made Citizen Kane. He’d never made a movie before. And he had no training as a filmmaker.

Many consider Citizen Kane the greatest movie ever made. No one questions its impact on filmmaking.

In this video, he speaks about the making of Citizen Kane and how his ignorance gave him the freedom to innovate.

Watch just the first minute of this clip (from 6:27 to 7:22). Then watch it again — before you watch the full video. So many powerful lessons in just that one minute.

A Reality Check from John Carlton

John Carlton is a copywriting legend and one of the great teachers of the craft.

In this brilliant blog post, Carlton says: “In order to persuade large groups of people to buy, act now, or even just begin to see your side of thingsā€¦ you have to see the world as it is. Not as you wish it was. Not as you believe it should be. Not as you were told it was. As it is. The stark, cold reality of how things actually work, and how people actually behave.”

(Yes!)

And then Carlton offers five rules to help you do as he suggests.

Rules to live by if you want to be a better marketer and salesperson.
