Clueless Human Relies on Brainless Robot (A Cautionary Tale)

I bumped into a bummed out marketer this week who hollered for help in an online forum.

His AI-powered marketing failed to generate sales for his software…

…which uses AI to write marketing messages.

So he asked the humans on Reddit for help.

He told us humans he sent a mountain of AI-generated, cold emails to promote his platform, but the responses were… well… cold. šŸ„¶

“Replies i got from my cold emailing campaign were very negative, someone told me that i am like those ‘AI no code’ ‘SaaS’ that are popping up everywhere.”

Let’s recap:

A human who seems to know little about marketing…

…sends AI-generated cold emails…

…to promote his software that spits out AI-generated marketing…

…and people rejected him for pitching yet-another AI-copy-generator.

Oh! The irony!

This is a cautionary tale for those who think AI can be your marketing brain. (It can’t!)

If you don’t understand marketing fundamentals…

…if you don’t bring to AI a framework for how you want to assemble your content…

…if you don’t tell the brainless AI-robot important facts about your target market and what makes them tick…

…AI will fail you.

You’ll generate the same old, blah-blah-blah, robotic content…

…and then you’ll crawl into the marketing forum and ask the humans for help.

This is not an anti-AI rant.

I love AI.

I share meals and have lovely, enlightening conversations with my GPT-powered copywriting robot, “B-9?”

I miss my original robot, Bjorn, who I threw in a dumpster after he betrayed me.

But…

…I don’t ask robots to do things they can’t do well.

Before I ask “B-9?” to write a byte…

Because the robot knows nothing.
