Marketing Humor and Insight from The Marketoonist
I love Tom Fishburne — “The Marketoonist.” I often share his work in my emails.
I recently bought a copy of his book that contains nearly 200 of his cartoons. I recommend it. Here’s the publisher’s description:
“From the birth of social media to digital advertising to personal branding, marketing has transformed in the past 15 years. Capturing these quintessential moments in marketing is Marketoonist, a popular cartoon series from veteran marketer Tom Fishburne. Your Ad Ignored Here collects nearly 200 of these hilarious and apt depictions of marketing life on the 15th anniversary of the series.”

Referral Training Replays Available for a Few More Days
Last week, I recommended Virginia Muzquiz’s Referral AlchemyĀ® Bootcamp.
In case you missed it, you can watch the replays — for free — but only for the next few days.
In three 90-minute sessions Virginia reveals how to build your very own referral funnel that creates on-demand prospects.
I mentioned this last week: When it comes to building your business through referrals, there’s no one better — and no one I trust more — than Virginia Muzquiz.Ā

Tim’s Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer was born on this day (Oct. 31) in 1632.
Many call Vermeer the greatest of all painters.
In 2013, a computer geek in Texas suggested that Vermeer may have used a shocking method to produce his photo-realistic paintings.
Tim aims to prove his theory by creating his own “masterpiece” using the method he thinks Vermeer employed.
This is an incredible movie — about the intersection of art and science, creativity, and perseverance.Ā

This TED Talk is Funny and Wise
Andrew Tarvin calls himself “the world’s first humor engineer.” And in this fantasticĀ TED talk, he reveals why we need to engineer more humor in our businesses. He says:
“In today’s overworked, under-appreciated, stress filled, sleep deprived culture, humor is a necessity because humor gets people to listen. It increases long term memory retention. It improves understanding, aids in learning, and helps communicate messages. It also improves group cohesiveness, reduces status differentials, diffuses conflict, builds trust, and brings people closer together.”
This talk is loaded with laughs and business-building wisdom.
