Before we get to the RecomMONDAYtions…

Please do me a favor…

If you like being in my online family, please spread the love by sharing this or one of my other story-powered emails who might like it, too.

Simple process:

  1. Think of one or more people who like to be info-tained and would value the thought-provoking, laugh-inducing, never-boring emails I send.
  2. Forward to them one of my emails and suggest they subscribe at my newĀ email sign-up page.
  3. Enjoy that warm-fuzzy feeling you get after doing a good deed.

Your friend will thank you — as will I. I’m grateful your on my list and for helping it grow.Ā šŸ™

Email List

šŸ“§Ā Total Anarchy by Ann Handley

A confession: That share-my-email request above… I got that idea from Ann Handley. This isn’t the first time I’ve asked subscribers to share my emails and recommend my list. But in her email on Sunday, Ann asked the same of her list. And I loved the concise, elegant way she did it. So…

…I repeated the format above…

…and decided I do her the favor she requested. If you like my emails, I know you’ll like Ann’sĀ Total AnarchyĀ emails (sent every two weeks). Here’sĀ an issueĀ I especially liked.

You can sign upĀ here.

Resources / Tools

šŸŽØĀ BeFunky Image Editor

Speaking of myĀ new email sign-up pageĀ (which you’re welcome to shareĀ šŸ˜‰)…

…notice all those cartoony-Tom’s on the page? I used a cool tool called BeFunky to make those. Take a picture of real-life Tom. Upload it to BeFunky. Click a button to cut out the background (quick and perfect). Choose from dozens of art effects — such as the “Cartoonizer” and click. Voila Cartoony-Tom, ready to drop on the funky blue background and save for the email sign-up page. Way faster and easier than many image editing tools I’ve tried. Much more than a cartoon-maker.

Article

šŸ“”Ā This is only the second time I’ve had to do this (by Ted Prodromou)
Speaking of Ted Prodromou (see Mastermind Book Club event above)… He and I see eye-to-eye when it comes to the pitchy pests on social media and beyond. Ted shares a story of one such pest who drove him to so something he almost never does. This is a great cautionary tale.

Music

šŸŽ¶“Strange Fruit” (Billie Holiday)
The great jazz singer Billie Holiday dies on this day (July 17) 64 years ago. She was only 43. I recommend the movieĀ The United States Vs. Billie Holliday.Ā It tells the story of her life, including how her songĀ Strange FruitĀ got her in trouble.

Words to Ponder

ā Whether it is the cavemen in the caves thousands of years ago, Shakespeare plays, television, movies and books, stories and characters take us on a journey. All I do is tell those stories without scripts and without actors.āž

– Mark Burnett
Television Producer (Survivor, The Apprentice, Shark Tank)
