Off the Grid. On the River. Still Writing.
Good morning from the middle of somewhere in southern Wyoming, not far from a town you’ve never heard of, near a river filled with trout.
I’m here to do some fishing with my pals.
This place we stay is off the grid — no cell signal, no wi-fi, no internet — except in a 300 square foot room where I now sit to write this email.
I write one every weekday (you probably already know that). Been doing it for years.
And I’m not going to stop now just because there’s very little “grid.”
You might wonder why I didn’t write a bunch of emails in advance. I could have done that.
But I prefer to write these emails fresh every day. More human. More authentic. The morning exercise gets my brain sizzling. I like it this way.
You may also be thinking, “I don’t want to send THAT many emails. That’s too many. I’d annoy and drive away my subscribers.”
Here’s what I’ve found writing a few thousand daily(ish) emails over the years:
The reason subscribers flee email lists is not that they get too many; it’s because the emails are annoying.
If you write informative, entertaining, valuable emails — that stand out as authentic and human (rather than AI-generated robotic garbage), subscribers will tune in, turn on, and buy.
I’m not saying you have to write daily emails. But if you write more, your subscribers won’t flee — if those emails are good.
Here’s a playbook to help you make that happen.
