This Story ’bout my Bloated Lunch Bill Could Boost Your Biz

lunch

My daughter, Maddie, flew in from Philly last week for my birthday.

On the big day, we walked to a new Mediterranean restaurant in the neighborhood for a celebratory lunch.

Perfect weather. Outdoor dining. Delicious, healthy food. Just around the corner.

What could go wrong?

(Cue ominous music and image of dark clouds on the horizon).

Maddie ordered the baba ghanoush (eggplant) on toast.

I ordered a chicken sandwich.

We split the hummus appetizer, and, for dessert, we got the rice pudding.

And then the bill came.

$74.87.

The sticker shock stung.

But what REALLY got my ghanoush was this line item:

“Pita – $0.95”

Pita. As in the flat, round (5”-diamater) bread that came with the hummus.

We didn’t order the pita.

We assumed (silly us!) that it came with the $10.95 dish of hummus…

…because at most restaurants (a.k.a. every other restaurant) when you order hummus they treat you like human beings, not pigs at the slop trough. They give you some bread or veggies (included in the price) to dip in the hummus.

But not at this place. They added the bread (without us asking for it). And without warning, they jacked up the bill.

That, boys and girls, is how a restaurant nickels, dimes, and dollars you to a $75 lunch tab.

All of this reminds me of how tech companies stick it to business owners.

They nickel, dime, and dollar us to death.

You pay extra if your list gets too large.

You pay extra if you add a user to your account.

You pay extra for all the little stuff that ought to be included.

And before you know it, your tech stack costs more than a diamond bracelet (and breakfast) at Tiffany’s.

Have you done the math? Have you calculated how many nickels, dimes, and dollars you spend on tech?

Shawn Perkins did, and then he switched to Implementum — the all-in-one marketing and operations platform I launched to help business owners simplify and save. For Shawn, it was a no-brainer.

“It’s definitely a money-saver. It saved me hundreds of dollars a month,” he said.
