How to Steal Like Disney to Conquer Writer’s Block

1250x672 (1)

Later today, I’m hosting a free training called “How to Generate a Flood of Client-Attracting Content Ideas.” (Still time to register to attend and/or get the replay.)

During the training I’ll share this story…

This morning, I visited OnThisDay.com to dig up historical events, birthdays, deaths, and more that happened… umm… on this day.

I visit this site often. It sparks story ideas.

Example: Fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen died on this day (Aug. 4) in 1875. The website reminded me he wrote “The Little Mermaid.”

Hmmm. I didn’t know that!

That sparked a thought: Most great Disney movies come from someone else’s tales.

I summoned my GPT-powered copywriting robot, “B-9?” and asked him to “…give me a list of Disney movies with a brief summary of the source from which they were drawn.”

“B-9?” did it in a blink.

“Snow White” came from The Brothers Grimm.

“Sleeping Beauty” is based on Charles Perrault’s “La Belle au bois dormant” and the Brothers Grimm’s “Little Briar Rose.”

“Beauty and the Beast” came from Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s fairy tale “La Belle et la Bête.”

“Alladin?” Based on the Arabic folktale Arabic folktale “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp.”

And so on.

Walt Disney and his storytellers didn’t create tales from nothing. They “stole” others’ tales for their own purposes.

Why does this matter for you? Why will I share this story during the training?

Because you can transform from stuck to unstuck when you…

“Steal” others’ tales for your purposes.

Want to tell a story about why delegation is a critical skill for business leaders? There’s a tale for that.

Want to tell a story about the right and wrong way to sell? There’s a tale for that.

Want to tell a story about how to overcome writer’s block? Share a tale about Disney and Hans Christian Andersen and how adopting others’ stories can move you from stuck to unstuck.

You just need to learn how to dig up those tales and connect them to your business.

When I woke this morning, I wanted to write about writer’s block and getting unstuck. But I didn’t know how I’d do it.

And then I visited OnThisDay.com which led me to Hans and “The Little Mermaid…”

….which led me to Disney…

…which led me to this email.

This isn’t magic. This is about systems, processes, and tools that anyone can master.

You don’t need to be a creative unicorn to generate a flood of client-attracting content ideas.

You just need to learn the systems and processes.

I shared some of my systems, processes and tools in this email.

I’ll share more and dive deeper in the training.

Click the button below if you’d like to join me live or get the replay. No replay for you unless you register before the event starts. We begin at 1:30 p.m. ET, 12:30 p.m. CT (Friday, Aug. 4)
