Disnify your Biz at Disney World with the Master

A few years ago I attended one of Vance Morris’s “Making the Magic” events at Walt Disney World. Vance spent years working inside Disney before he left to teach business owners how to build that same customer experience into their own companies.

That event changed how I run my business. The lessons have helped me improve retention, land more referrals, and get people to happily pay premium prices without blinking.

A scheduling shift just freed up 20 seats at his next event, October 25-28 in Orlando.

Vance wants to fill those seats fast so he’s offering them at a price that would make Mickey blush. He normally charges $7,999 a person. For the October event, seats are $2,997.

That covers four nights at the Grand Floridian, all your meals, your park ticket, and the event itself. You just cover your flight.

Each room sleeps up to five, so bring the family — they stay in the room at no added cost (they’d cover their own meals and tickets), and Vance can get them discounted park tickets. You may even be able to write the trip off; ask your accountant.

If you’re interested, reply by Wednesday, August 5. That doesn’t commit you to anything. Tt just says you want to hear more.

If at least five of you say yes, I’ll set up a 30-minute group call with Vance to walk through the details and take your questions. That’s when you decide.

Reply to this email with “Mickey and me” if you’re interested.

Seth Godin Says Ditch the Powerpoint

Powerpoint has killed the live conversation. So says Seth Godin who argues:

A live conversation is built for back-and-forth. Drop a slide deck in and you make everyone a spectator. The fix: send the thing beforehand, or pause and let people read it. Reading and interacting aren’t the same event.

As always with Seth’s blog, this is a short read, that packs a big punch.

Stop Leaving Money on the Table

“You’ve changed my life!” might be the best thing a client can say to you. It feels great… for about ten seconds. Then the other thought creeps in: Did I get paid enough for that?

Version 1.0.0

For accountants, lawyers, consultants, coaches, and fractional executives, the honest answer is usually no. We badly undercharge, and most of us have no real system for fixing it.

That’s exactly what Susan Trivers set out to solve in STOP Leaving Money on the Table: Why Firms Badly Undercharge and How to Use IMPACT Based Pricing to Increase Fees.

The book walks you through where undercharging actually comes from, how to define the client who genuinely wants the impact you create, the single most important question to ask on a discovery call, and how to write proposals with three tailored options that speak directly to what the client wants. She makes the case for why IMPACT Based Pricing beats value pricing, for you and the client.

STOP Leaving Money on the Table is the August pick for The Mastermind Book Club.

Every month, Ted Prodromou and I pick a great business book for the Club to read and discuss. We meet live on Zoom, usually the fourth Thursday of the month — often with the author.

Meetings are free to attend. Join the Club for access to our online community and meeting replays.

Susan Trivers will join us for the discussion in August.

See you there.

Why The Most Human Brand Win In a Digital World (with Simon Elliott)

Simon “Si” Elliott is a strategic marketing leader, agency co-owner, and customer experience expert with 20+ years helping brands build deeper connections. He’s the founder of CX consultancy Fabricx and co-owner of creative agency Diversity.

Si blends behavioral science with practical strategy to design experiences that actually resonate. In this episode, Si and I dig into how brands win in an AI-accelerated world by prioritizing human connection over automation.

We talk about using behavioral science to understand what really motivates people, why AI’s speed can strip away originality and make empathy more valuable than ever, and how to tell ethical reassurance apart from manipulative, fear-based marketing.

Along the way we get into examples from Zappos and the airlines, and how to keep a human in the loop when the stakes are high.

If AI has you equal parts worried and intrigued, this one will help you stay useful without losing what makes you you.
