How to Make ’em Say, “Wow”

Two men sit at a table in a bright cafe, smiling and talking. One man holds and uses a tablet, while the other listens. Plates of food and drinks are visible on the table.

Here’s what happened when I walked into Lilo restaurant in Carlsbad, CA last week with my high school pals Mike and Alison…

The floor manager welcomed Alison who had made the reservation. Then she looked directly at Mike and me and asked, “Which one of you is Mike?”

Mike smiled and said, “That’s me.”

Then she said, “And you must be Tom. Welcome to Lilo, Mike and Tom.”

It was the first of many “wow!” moments at a restaurant that knows how to make customers say, “Wow!”

A few days before we arrived, someone from the restaurant called Alison to ask a few questions. Are we in from out of town? Celebrating a special occasion? Tell us about your dinining companions.

Small details. Big impact.

More wow moments…

The way they explained every dish they served — with meticulous detail — and answered all questions patiently and completely.

The surprise extra glass of wine they gifted us because it paired well with the next dish they were serving.

The hand-written thank you note and copy of the menu every customer received at the end of the meal.

The food (every bite)!

Lilo opened in April and earned its first Michelin star in June. No American restaurant had earned a first star faster.

They earned it with “wow.”

Which begs a question…

What can you do to inspire prospects and clients to say, “WOW?”

Here are a few ways…

Deliver content that shows you really get them — almost as if they’re an old pal.

Be authentic. Be different. Don’t be like everyone else. Don’t be robotic.

Entertain them, don’t bore them.

When you do this, prospects and clients will tune in, turn on, and buy — even if you charge premium prices.

Wondering how you can do this?

I have a brand new training for that. I’ll reveal how to turn content into clients.

The training is complimentary, but you have to make a reservation to attend.

Detais and reservationsĀ here.
