Legendary Copywriter Plans to Open Her Vault

My friend Kim Schwalm is one of the best direct-response copywriters alive. She has beaten the legends. She has written controls that ran for a decade. She has quietly helped generate close to a billion dollars for the companies smart enough to hire her.

And after doing all of that, she began (about nine years ago) to package everything she knows into courses, workshops, and other programs to help business owners like you produce profit-generating copy.

Kim has been threatening to retire “soon” for as long as I’ve known her. This time she means it.

She’s calling it “semi-retirement” — no more new courses, no more group programs.

But before she goes, she’s throwing open her entire vault (every training, every workshop, every swipe file) at a price that makes me think she’s already had a few too many cocktails on the beach.

I’ll give you the full story and the link Thursday, when her offer becomes available.

For now, just know it’s coming — and the window is short. It slams shut Sunday, June 7th.

If you write copy, sell anything with words, or keep fighting with flat AI drafts… clear a little time Thursday.

Stay tuned until then.

Video Testimonials That Land the Big Fish

I’ve met lots of video marketing “experts” through the years. None is better than Ian Garlic.

His book is little (easy to ready in one sitting). But its impact on your business will be huge — if you implement what he teaches (he can help you do it).

His big idea: ditch the boring testimonial — the “they were great to work with, five stars” stuff nobody believes and nobody remembers.

Replace it with what he calls a Video Case Story — a real customer, telling a real before-and-after, the way you’d tell a friend over a beer.

Garlic has produced 15,000+ of these for everyone from solo law firms to Fortune 50 companies. The system shows you how to find the right customers, interview them so they actually open up, and put the stories to work across YouTube, your site, and your follow-up.

If “story-driven” is your thing — and around here, it always is — this one belongs on your shelf.

A Plan is Not a Strategy

Most businesses don’t have a strategy. They have a to-do list.

In this video, strategy expert Roger Martin explains why planning and strategy are not the same thing. Planning focuses on activities you control (hiring people, launching products, opening locations). Strategy focuses on outcomes you don’t control (whether customers choose you over competitors).

Martin’s distinction is simple but powerful: A plan tells you what you’re going to do. A strategy explains why those choices will help you win.

If you’ve ever sat through a “strategic planning” session that produced a long list of projects but little clarity, this video is for you.

How to Stay Visible and Stand Out as AI Replaces Search Engines (with Justin Inman)

Justin Inman is the Founder and CEO of Emberos, the first operating system built to orchestrate paid, owned, and earned signals for AI visibility. He works at the intersection of brand strategy, AI systems, and predictive analytics, helping companies understand and influence how they appear inside generative AI platforms.

Justin explains that consumers increasingly ask tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews rather than the old Google search. He and I talk about how SEO fundamentals still matter, but brands must optimize across their campaigns to ensure they appear in AI-generated responses – and appear accurately. We discuss AI visibility, best practices, and how to avoid treating AI like a content machine that all too often dishes out slop, risking search delisting.

People are still searching, they’re just doing it differently. Listening to this episode can help you position your business for success in this new world.

“I always tell my kids if you lay down, people will step over you. But if you keep scrambling, if you keep going, someone will always, always give you a hand. Always. But you gotta keep dancing, you gotta keep your feet moving.”
