Priceless Marketing & Sales Advice
John Carlton on Quality vs. Quantity
The great copywriter John Carlton posts daily(ish) insights on Facebook these days. I never miss them. Marketing tips. Mindset tips. Random musings. All written in a way that only Carlton can write. Wildly entertaining. Priceless value.
I especially like this one about his mentor, the late, great Gary Halbert, who refused to use a computerized CRM and, instead, kept prospect records on notecards. Here’s why. (Powerful lessons in this one, even for those who don’t plan to replace their CRM with a box of notecards).

The Author of Overdeliver Reflects on the Value He Brings
I’m a member of Brian Kurtz’s mastermind group called Titans Accelerator. For those who don’t know Brian, he is a direct marketing master who spent 34 years at Boardroom, Inc., handling marketing activities in all channels including direct mail, direct response television, e-mail and more.
A few weeks ago, an applicant for the mastermind program asked Brian if he’s done anything “great” since leaving Boardroom in 2015.
Here’s how Brian responded, as recounted on his blog. So many valuable mindset lessons in this piece. I’ll probably write more about it in an upcoming email. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, read what Brian says and heed his advice.

The Art of Noticing
Noticing. I’ve been writing/talking a lot about that lately because I believe: The better we are at noticing, the better we are at understanding and enjoying everything around us. And the better we are at understanding, the better we are at connecting with others. And the better we are at connecting, the better we are at building our business (among MANY other benefits).
So I am reflecting on things I’ve learned over the years about the art and science of noticing.
And I’m reading/watching what others have to say about it… Which led me toĀ The Art of NoticingĀ by Rob Walker. I love this book. More about itĀ here…
Words to Ponder
re: The Thrill of Noticing
“Letās stop trying to be so productive all the time and make an effort to be more curious. Do you want to look back on a life of items crossed off lists drawn up in response to the demands of others? Or do you want to hang on to, and repeat, and remember, the thrill of discovering things on your own?”
– Rob Walker from “The Art of Noticing”
