You Can Be a Dominating Marketing Presence. Here’s How…
When basketball great Bill Russell died on Sunday, I spent a couple of hours reading about him, watching videos, and searching for his quotes.
He said lots of memorable things.
But here’s the quote that stood out, the one I included in yesterday’s Monday Mash-Up:
“What distinguishes a great player is his presence. When he goes on the court, his presence dominates the atmosphere.”
A dominating presence.
The one who rises above others.
The one who everyone wants to see.
The one to count on.
In sports, they call that a game-changer.
In movies and television, they call that “owning the screen.”
In marketing? I call that…
A storytelling standout.
Ordinary marketing players dish out the same-old, boring, blah-blah-blah content. Prospects yawn, tune out, and move on.
Storytelling standouts deliver brilliant content. They rise above others. They become the go-to players in their niches.
Their emails dominate the inbox. The emails shine brighter than the others.
Emails that stand out as the ones to open, the ones to read from bottom to top, the ones to click on.
When you become a storytelling standout, subscribers open your emails because YOU sent them. They know they can count on you.
Examples:
“My eyes light up when I see the sender ‘Tom Ruwitch’ pop up in my inbox. Why? Because I know stories, humor, and value are in store and worth the time to read, and sometimes re-read.”
– Gary Wilkin
Executive and Life Coach
“I can’t wait to get my email from you. It starts off my day just great.”
– Nancee Johnson
Digital Marketing Coach & Strategist
“The emails that I get from Tom are one of like three that I read on a consistent basis. The content is THAT good.”
– Vance Morris
Customer Experience Strategist
That’s what I’m talking about.
I share those testimonials not to brag. I share them to show you the possibilities. This is what happens when you become a storytelling standout. And…
You CAN become a storytelling standout.
“Dominating presence” is not about “God-given” talent. It’s about putting in the work.
Bill Russell also said this: “Success is a result of consistent practice of winning skills and actions. There is nothing miraculous about the process. There is no luck involved.”
I became a storytelling standout because I learned the winning skills and actions, and I practiced them consistently.
You have a choose to become a dominating presence, to be the one who stands out.
I can share with you the winning skills and actions — and how to practice them consistently.
