Why You Should Celebrate The Impact You Make

clients

Marketing master Dave Dee sent his list a great email yesterday. With his permission, I share it now…

I have a simple question for you.

Is your business a force for good in the world?

I don’t mean that metaphysically. Instead, do you genuinely help people solve problems and help them get the outcomes they desire?

My guess is you answered, “yes.”

Now take a moment and think about a specific client whom you helped. See that person. Feel how you changed their life.

Now do it again with another client. (Remember to feel how you impacted their life.)

Don’t just read; take a moment, and do this. I’ll wait.

.

If you followed through, you should feel great right now, which is important.

As entrepreneurs, we often get caught up in the business part of our business. We think about sales, marketing, making payroll, and many other things.

It’s crucial to our long-term success to fully associate with how we positively impact our clients.

This isnā€™t woo-woo, metaphysical stuff.

When you deeply understand and feel powerful, positive emotions around what you do, your prospects will also feel it, and youā€™ll close more sales because selling is a transference of emotion.

What a great email, Dave! (Sign up here to get more “Deemail”).

Dave is describing what I call “earned gratitude.”

Every day, we serve people around us. We earn their gratitude.

Whether they express that gratitude or not, we can celebrate how we serve. We should, as Dave wrote, “feel great” about it.

I do it every night.

For 15+ years, I’ve recorded at the end of the day three (or more) things for which I’m grateful.

A few years ago, I added this wrinkle: I now also record three things I’ve done for which others could be grateful — my earned gratitude.

And, yes, I feel great when I do this. More fulfilled. More focused. More confident. More committed.

Dave put it best: “It’s crucial to our long-term success to fully associate with how we positively impact our clients.”

Amen, Dave.
