Treat Your Followers Like Electric Sheep? That’s Baa Baa Bad.

Riddle me this, business builder…

What routines have you implemented to remind your followers (list-members, social friends, etc.) that you’re human and you see them as human, too?

I’m talking about the HUMAN, PERSONAL TOUCH, not automated, fill-in-the-blanks, techno-merged personalization.

Example: When someone orders from John Carlton, his assistant calls them.

“Just a quick call to let each new customer know their order was processed and to verify the shipping address,” Carlton writes in his book The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Getting Your Shit Together – Volume One.

Why do it?

Carlton: “Many expect to be treated like a number, another brick in the wall… It’s the same with your customers. You can assign them numbers for easy filing, find the perfect place in your database for their inclusion, be precise and efficient and orderly. And lose track of their humanness. Bottom line, your customer is your business. Don’t treat him like electric sheep.”

Amen, John!
