The Sh*t we Put Ourselves Through (and How to Escape)

A stinky story ripped from the headlines:


Pop Goddess Olivia Rodrigo says some of her most devoted fans wear diapers to her general admission shows (festivals and such)…


…so they can secure and hold front-row seats without pesky bathroom breaks.


How does she know?


“That’s been an experience as a performer that I have smelled,” she said in an interview with KISS FM in London.


Add “Diaper Wearing” to the top of my list of “Unacceptable Shit People Put Themselves Through to Get What They Want.”


Also on the list:


Sleeping on a sidewalk to be first in line for the latest smartphone and…


…eating 70 hot dogs in ten minutes for a plastic belt.


We shake our heads. We laugh. We think… WHO would do that?


And then we go back to running our businesses where (come on, let’s be honest) we put ourselves through our own unacceptable shit every day. Like:


💩 Staring at a blank screen at 6am, wondering what the hell to send to the list today.

💩 Throwing spaghetti at the wall — a post here, a promo there — and praying something sticks.

💩 Wrestling with funnel software at 11pm… watching a tutorial to fix the thing the last tutorial broke.

💩 Duct-taping seven tools together that flat-out refuse to talk to each other.

💩 Hiring freelancer after freelancer who overpromises, under-delivers, and ghosts you.

💩 Being the strategist, the copywriter, the designer, the tech support, AND the janitor.

💩 Doing $10-an-hour busywork when your time is worth $1,000.

💩 Grinding through nights and weekends on marketing… instead of, you know, living your life.


That’s a stinky way to run a business.
