The Perfect Gift for the Entrepreneur who has Everything?

True story:

In 2016, KFC introduced ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ edible nail polish. Two flavors: Hot & Spicy (peppery red) and Original Recipe (beige). Slather it on. Wait for it to dry. Lick your fingers. Yum!

Other true stories: Doritos has partnered with a distiller to sell Nacho Cheese flavored liquor (94 proof). You can buy someĀ here.

And Absolut Vodka and KahlĆŗa coffee liqueur created a fragrance called “Blend No. 83” that smells like an espresso martini and sold for $105 a bottle.

Perfect for those holiday parties where you want to tell friends and family, “Yes, IĀ haveĀ been drinking.”Ā šŸ¤Ŗ

CNN says, “The goal of these products is to pique customersā€™ curiosity, spark a conversation and increase brand recognition.”

Mission accomplished, I guess.

But here’s the unintended consequence: Products like these inspire people like me to come up with wacky, wonderful product ideas…

…because what’s good for the giant corporate goose is good for the small business gander. Right? (More on that question below.)

Coming up with a brilliant product idea would take some mainframe-sized brainpower.

So, while munching on Apple Jacks and drinking black coffee this morning, I turned to my GPT-powered copywriting robot, “B-9?” and said, “Please come up with suggestions for consumer products I could offer (like KFC, Doritos, etc.) that would pique customersā€™ curiosity, spark a conversation and increase brand recognition.”

“B-9?” delivered. One great product idea after another. My favorite:

“Entrepreneurial Spirit Aromatherapy Kit: A set of essential oils or scents designed to invoke qualities like focus, creativity, and determination, each linked to an inspiring entrepreneurial story or business philosophy.”

(Now that’s what I call a good use of AI!)

I asked “B-9?” to come up with a good product name because “Entrepreneurial Spirit Aromatherapy Kit” is a mouthful.

“B-9?” delivered again.

Introducing:
StoryPower BizScents
(Aroma Journeys for Entrepreneurs)

(“B-9?” designed the bottle and generated the image. He’s not just for copywriting any more).

Just uncork the bottle before you meditate and powerful business stories will float through your brain like magic. No more writer’s block. No more boring stories. You’ll captivate prospects and inspire them to buy. And your office will smell good, too.

I’m still working on production logistics. But I’m planning to flood the market with BizScents. I’ll sell it for $104/bottle (that’s less than “Blend No. 83”).

And I’ll be swimming in brand recognition…

…or not.

What’s good for the corporate goose is NOT good for you, dear gander.

It’s nice to dream about having a brand so big we can grow awareness with wacky products, blimps, or other “brand building” tactics.

But that stuff doesn’t make scents for most of us not-giant businesses.

The great Dan Kennedy once said: “I believe in brand. I have brands of my own that I relied on my entire career ā€“ starting with ā€˜No BSā€¦ā€™ But Iā€™ve never spent a nickel trying to BUY awareness for that brandā€¦Instead of spending money, figure out ways to get paid to build a valuable brandā€¦Build it by direct response instead of by capital.ā€

Here’s anĀ email from the archiveĀ where I break down the difference between direct response marketing and paid brand-building. Business people who master direct response marketing are far more likely to prosper than those who spend big bucks and time on “brand awareness.”

In the p.s. below, you’ll see ways I can help you build a content-powered, direct response marketing machine to grow your business.

If you work with me, I may throw in a bottle of BizScents for free — or not.
