Romeo Rules (How to Make More Sales)

Remember that scene in the Shakespeare play when Romeo meets Juliet?

I’ll spare you the kissy details other than to say they liked each other.

Later that night, Romeo followed up. He snuck back into Juliet’s castle, delivered some high-quality content about “love’s light wings,” and closed the sale, so to speak.

But it might not have turned out that way if Romeo behaved like so many businesspeople I know.

Imagine this: Romeo and Juliet meet. Juliet opts in. Then, after their initial connection, Juliet stands on her balcony, blabbing on and on and on (“O Romeo, Romeo!”)…

…but Romeo never comes. He sits in his castle, wondering if Juliet will call on him. And, alas, their love never blossoms.

I see this tragic scene repeat itself over and over and over again with business leaders who make an initial love connection but fail to follow up.

These Romeos make their first-connection with Juliets who opt-in to the email list or sign up for a lead magnet.

But Romeo never follows up…

…or waits too long to do so…

…or delivers feeble, boring messages that turn off Juliet and lead her to tune out and move on.

A blossoming business-building connection transformed into lost opportunity.

Don’t be THAT Romeo.
