Meet Tom’s Robot – Trained on Story Power Marketing Methods

At 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. PT) this evening, I’m unveiling the marketing robot I’ve been building in my AI Laboratory. You’re invited to join me, and if you want, you can put my robot to work for you — for free.

I’ve trained him to be a top-level copywriter and coach who uses my proven Story Power methods to help you produce a steady stream of authentic, client-getting content.

He can be your copy chief, reviewing what you’ve written and handing you clear, simple fixes to make it WAY better.

He can also be your copywriting assistant, drafting content that drives sales and saves you time.

I’ve spent months in the lab studying the difference between authentic, client-getting content and the typical AI slop. I trained the robot to know the difference, so it produces the good stuff.

This evening, you get to decide how I did. I’ll share the marketing methods I taught my robot, the same ones I use to attract leads, nurture prospects, and drive sales.

Then I’ll introduce you to him and show how he’s mastered my Story Power methods to help you skip the slop and create content that sounds like you.

Save your seat here, and I’ll see you tonight.

HubSpot Just Got Caught Doing What Your Business Might Be Doing Right Now

When a company botches the customer experience, nobody calls it out sharper than my friend Vance Morris. This week he set his sights on HubSpot, and it’s one of my favorite takedowns of the year.

On July 1st, HubSpot quietly enrolled every customer into a new data-sharing arrangement without asking. Want out? Go dig through the settings and reverse a decision they already made for you. Four days later, their Chief Product Officer was writing a public apology.

It’s easy to feel superior for a second, until Vance points out you’re probably running a smaller version of the same play and don’t even know it.

He spent a decade inside Walt Disney World operations, including running Chef Mickey’s, the company’s top-rated character dining spot. His whole career has chased one question: why do customers stay loyal to some businesses and bail on others the moment something better shows up?

His answer isn’t “service,” because everybody claims good service. His answer is order.

Disney ranks four standards that never bend: safety, courtesy, show, and efficiency. Efficiency sits dead last on purpose, because it’s what wins by default the moment nobody’s watching. Nobody in HubSpot’s boardroom voted to rank speed over candor. It just happens, one deadline at a time.

His post breaks it all down, and it stings a little.

The Second Act Advantage

The standard retirement script: hit the golf course. Visit the grandkids. Ease quietly into “managing decline.”

Jay Samit says burn that script.

In The Second Act Advantage, the international bestselling author argues your best years aren’t behind you. They’re just getting started.

His big idea: everything supposedly stacked against older entrepreneurs (your age, your decades of experience, your loaded Rolodex) is your edge. Pair that hard-won wisdom with AI, automation, and a handful of emerging technologies, and you don’t just stay relevant… you become unstoppable.

And he backs it up. Science. Real stories: Auntie Anne’s pretzel empire, built at 65… Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, launched at 50. Plus a stack of strategies for turning experience into consulting gigs, courses, and passive income — a whole second act run from a laptop.

The kicker: entrepreneurs over 50 are 3x more likely to succeed than the twenty-somethings.

The Second Act Advantage is our July pick for The Mastermind Book Club.

Every month, Ted Prodromou and I choose a great business book for the Club to read and dig into. We meet live on Zoom (usually the fourth Thursday), often with the author in the room. Meetings are free. Join the Club for the online community and meeting replays.

And Jay Samit himself is joining us this month.

Follow-Up That Works: How to Stay Top-of-Mind Without Being Annoying

Does this sound familiar:

You meet someone. Great conversation. You fully mean to follow up… then client work and deadlines pile up. A week later you’re wondering if it’s too late, or if reaching out now just feels awkward.

My friend Lynn Whitbeck fixes exactly that.

Lynn is the Strategic Sales Queen, and she teaches follow-up the way it should be taught: practical, relationship-driven, and never pushy. Her upcoming workshop is Follow-Up That Works: How to Stay Top-of-Mind Without Being Annoying.

She’ll show you how to follow up with confidence, re-engage the people who went quiet, and turn more of your conversations and warm intros into real opportunities.

Kara Ryan founded Klyr Strategies, a communications advisory practice for senior leaders navigating high-stakes business moments.

In this episode, Kara and I get into how leaders should actually communicate… why talking points fall flat when leaders sound scripted, stiff, or unlike themselves… and how to build real trust. She makes the case for bringing communications in early — and shows how waiting too long becomes an expensive mistake.
