I was born in the mid-1960s when NASA’s Apollo missions were in full swing. I grew up wanting to be an astronaut, dreaming of walking on the moon. And then NASA stopped sending astronauts toward the moon — until this month.
If you haven’t seen the photographs and videos from the Artemis II mission, take a moment to look at them. The mission felt, to me, like another giant step for mankind. It left me in awe of the power of human ingenuity — and courage.
Here’s one of my favorite images (below), taken from the spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT on April 6. Here’s a link to NASA’s gallery with more photographs and videos.

Speaking of the “power of humans…” Every time I hear great music live, I marvel at what we humans can do. How we can create such beauty. Without robots or computers standing in for us.
I really felt that on Saturday when Melissa and I saw Ruth Moody and her band perform at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis.
Her new album is called “Wanderer.” And the title track is a beautiful song about “coming home” to the one we love. Here’s a video of her performing that song…
