Northern Lights #AllThisUsefulBeauty

Did You See the Lights?

I blew it. I didn’t get outside on Friday night to see the “Northern Lights” in the sky above St. Louis, MO. USA. I have friends and relatives who saw them. How about you? Send me a picture if you captured one. (The stock photo above is nice, but I’d love to see the lights through your eyes/lens).

📚 The Experience Economy
Today, the idea of “customer experience” is baked into our culture like a chocolate chip in a cookie. In the 1990s, not so much. Joe Pine and James Gilmore didn’t invent the concept.

But in 1998 they published the definitive book on the topic: “The Experience Economy.” In this AI-age, the book is more relevant than ever.

From the publisher’s summary:

This seminal book on experience innovation by Joe Pine and Jim Gilmore explores how savvy companies excel by offering compelling experiences for their customers, resulting not only in increased customer allegiance but also in a more profitable bottom line… “The Experience Economy” has become a must-read for leaders of enterprises large and small, for-profit and nonprofit, global and local.

“The Experience Economy is this month’s selection for the Mastermind Book Club. Each month, Ted Prodromou and I choose one book for the Club to read and discuss. On the fourth Thursday (5/23 this month), we meet live on Zoom to discuss the book.

The Club and meetings are free to attend. But you have to join the Club in advance to get the meeting notices and Zoom link.

🎙️ Why You Need To Get Good… At Being Really Bad
I love this video from marketing master Jeff Walker. Here’s the YouTube description: “If you’re going to succeed in anything, you have to get really good… at being really bad. In business, learning is the price of admission. You can’t avoid it, but you can make it easier by accepting you’ll probably suck – at least at the beginning. Everyone starts at zero. So don’t worry about not being perfect. Instead, get comfortable being really bad… because it’s the foundation of your future success. Here’s the agenda”

💡 “She’s Here” by Seth Godin
Seth Godin packs more punch in a short blog post than any writer/expert I know. This one is 107 words. Reading time < 30 seconds. If I tried to summarize it, my blurb would be longer than the post. Just read it. It’s great.
