📚 Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
Read this book, and you’ll understand better how human beings think and make decisions. That includes how YOU think and make decisions. Why bother?

So you can make informed decisions more and guess less. So you sell more by anticipating what motivates prospects. So you can lead better by understanding your coworkers’ needs and desires.

This is among the more valuable business books I’ve ever read. So when Mastermind Book Club member Les Landes recommended it, Ted Prodromou and I chose the book as this month’s selection.

Every month, Ted and I choose one book for the Club to discuss. If you have time to read it great. If not, no worries. You can still join us live on Zoom when we discuss the book. You don’t have to read it to benefit — and even contribute to — the conversation.

This month’s meeting: Thursday, Jan. 25, 2:30 p.m. ET, 11:30 a.m. PT.

Club membership and the monthly meetings are free. Members receive announcements with the event details and Zoom link. Join the club here.

🎥 Business Mindset Chasing the day or leading it?
“Do you have a daily mindset practice?” So asks my friend Nina Cooke in this short video that describes how you can achieve greater business success — if you make mindset work a habit. Watch this video and then see more on her website.

🎁 GiftHopper
One of my smartest business moves over the last couple of years: Implementing GiftHopper.

One of my resolutions this year: Expand my use of GiftHopper.

I use GiftHopper to deliver thank you gifts to clients, partners, and other key business associates. I simply give them the list of gift recipients and the gift I wish to deliver. They do the rest.

GiftHopper prepares, packages, and mails hand-packed gifts on my behalf with a branded box and personalized thank you message.

This is a great way to maintain bonds and strengthen relationships. Well worth the investment!

(Thanks to master gift-giver Michael DeLon for introducing GiftHopper to me).

💡 Errors and Productivity by Seth Godin
On his daily blog, Seth Godin kicked off 2024 with a series of “Productivity Week” posts. All are great. My favorite is PW:3.

Anyone who’s ever suffered from the “perfection problem” will benefit from this one.

Key line: “Given enough time and enough money, we can make just about anything as reliable as an airplane. But should we?”

🦬 The American Buffalo
If you’ve heard of Ken Burns, you probably know about his most celebrated documentaries: Baseball, The Civil War, The Viet Nam War, and others.

You may not have noticed, though, Burns’ October 2023 release: The American Buffalo. Melissa and I watched it this weekend, and we loved it.

From the official web site: “The American Buffalo, a new two-part, four-hour series, takes viewers on a journey through more than 10,000 years of North American history and across some of the continent’s most iconic landscapes, tracing the animal’s evolution, significance to the Great Plains, near demise, and relationship to the Indigenous People of North America.”

Available over the error on your local PBS stations or on the PBS app (subscription required).
