How I Evolved From Procrastinator to Implementer

I recently noticed a new signature section at the bottom of emails from Dave Dee, one of my favorite marketing experts. The section described several ways prospective clients can connect and do business with him. Not a hard pitch, just a short catalog of available opportunities.

I liked it so I asked Dave about it during one of his group meetings.

Dave said he implemented the “super signature” a while back. He said the response has been great. He encouraged us to try it.

That was three weeks ago.

Later that day, I received an email from Vance Morris, another marketing expert who attended the meeting with Dave. At the bottom of Vance’s email: A shiny, new super-signature.

Talk about supersonic implementation!

Vance often says, “Remember, you won’t profit unless you implement.”

He practices what he preaches. He discovers a great strategy or tactic and he rolls it out — without delay.

So why didn’t I implement a super signature without delay?

Good question. No good reason. No good excuse.

Just further proof that I needed to elevate my implementation game.

I thought of Vance a couple of days ago after I signed up for Ann Handley’s email list. She instantly replied with a great thank you email. (I wrote about it earlier this week).

I loved Ann’s email so I implemented a similar one…

…right away. No delay. I rolled it out. Supersonic implementation. Inspired by Vance.

I emailed Vance to thank him.

“You’re my implementation hero,” I told him. “I had you in mind when I got the great welcome email from Ann. Truly, I was thinking, ‘I’m going to implement like Vance here.’ And I jumped on it. Meanwhile, I still haven’t implemented the super-signature. But I’ll do that tomorrow… Before I send my next email.”

That’s pretty good, I thought. I implemented a new thank you email that day and would implement a new super signature the NEXT day.

Vance replied with a 5-word email: Implement the super signature TODAY.

Alright then. Without further delay, see my shiny new super-signature below.
