He Didn’t Want His Name in THESE Red Lights…

red light district

Sydney Story didn’t ask to have the red light district named after him (who would ask for that???). It just turned out that way.

Here’s Story’s story:

He was an alderman in New Orleans who, in 1897, wrote legislation to establish “The District. It was an area north of the French Quarter where prostitution (technically illegal) would be confined and regulated.

The District caught on, but that name didn’t. Visitors, residents, and history called it Storyville…

…ensuring that Sydney’s name would be in (red) lights for eternity.

He wasn’t pleased. But so it goes.

That Storyville is long gone.

Also long gone: The Storyville nightclub in Boston. It was one of the 20th century’s great jazz venues.

Louis Armstrong — who grew up in Storyville, New Orleans — performed at Storyville in Boston.

Today, a Pizzeria Uno occupies the space where that famous venue once operated.

So, for now, “Storyville” is just a memory, twice-over.

I think…

…the world needs a Storyville…

…so I’m bringing it back.

Club Storyville will launch later this month online. You’ll be invited.

It won’t be a red light district. It won’t be a jazz club.

It will be an online hangout for anyone who wants to create captivating, client-attracting content.

My virtual carpenters, plumbers, and electricians are building the right now. Doors open in three weeks.

More details to come. Stay tuned.
