A Strange Thing About Mark Zuckerberg
Check out the trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s new movie, “The Social Reckoning” (watch it here).
My takeaway after watching it: Mark Zuckerberg has a very stiff neck. “Stiff” as in immobile. Stiff as in Tin Man (get that guy an oil can!)
We see the guy throughout the 2:29 trailer, and he doesn’t twist his head once — not a single degree.
It’s off-putting, which is, I suppose, the idea.
In Sorkin’s first Facebook movie (“The Social Network”), Zuckerberg comes off as a young, arrogant jerk who may have stolen the intellectual property on which Facebook is built.
In the sequel, Zuckerberg seems to be Goldfinger, Voldemort, and Darth Vader rolled into one.
Facebook is the Evil Empire. Zuckerberg is the Evil Emperor. He will do everything in his power to preserve the Empire even if it means ruining the lives of a brave whistleblower (a beautiful, intelligent woman) and a pesky reporter (a handsome, intelligent man). Both of our heroes have great necks and can turn their heads like ordinary humans, by the way.
And (spoiler alert), for one brief moment in the trailer, we see the pesky reporter (in a robe) and the beautiful whistleblower (in a skimpy nighty) standing in the same hotel room. This is one of those courtroom/whistle-blower dramas — with benefits.
You can watch it all on October 9 in a theater near you.
Meanwhile, it’s Social Media Day today (June 30).
Serious questions:
Are you celebrating or cursing?
Do you love social media or hate it or something in between?
Do you see social media as a necessary evil that you employ in your business or do you stay as far away from it as you can?
Please reply and let me know. I’m conducting an informal poll.
Tomorrow, I’ll share my thoughts regarding the pros and cons of social media to market your business. And later this week, I’ll share some highlights from my poll.
