Sleepless in St. Louis

Sleepless in St. Louis. That’s me. 🄱

The nights have turned cool here, so the bedroom windows are open. And hour after hour, night after night, train horns blare from every corner of the city.

When you hear a train horn, way off in the distance, it sounds almost romantic.

But when those horns blare from just a few blocks away, the sound slaps you in the ear and screams, “No sleep for you!”

It’s the government’s fault.

For nearly two decades, St. Louis was a federal “quiet zone.” Trains didn’t have to blow their horns at crossings.

Earlier this month, the Federal Railroad Administration took that away.

Why? Because the City of St. Louis failed to fix what the feds said was broken.

Back in 2024, the city learned it needed bigger signs and fresh striping at its crossings to keep the designation.

The money wasn’t found, and the work didn’t get done.

Now the city has to replace about 1,000 signs at 88 crossings. Fast.

Most businesses have their own version of those signs.

The website that still describes what you did five years ago. The welcome email nobody has looked at since you wrote it. The lead magnet that points to a webinar you retired. The follow-up sequence that stops after one email.

You know it isn’t working the way it should. You’ve meant to fix it. But the work doesn’t get done.

Then you’re sleepless because sales lag.

Your marketing needs the same upkeep as a railroad crossing. The welcome email, the lead magnet, the follow-up sequence… each one is a crossing sign. Let them go stale, and it doesn’t matter how good your offer is.

So let me help you find the fix.

I’m offering a complimentary content review. Send me your website, your welcome sequence, your lead magnet, or whatever piece you suspect has been neglected. I’ll tell you what’s working, what’s broken, and how to fix it.

I usually charge $250+ for such reviews, but I will do this for you for free if you are among the first 10 to reply.

Reply to this email with “content review” and I’ll send you the details.
