Elon, Zuck, and Me… (Must See TV)

threads

Let the cage match begin.

In one corner: Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX and owner/destroyer(?) of Twitter.

In the other corner: Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, Instagram, and the just-launched Twitter-killer(?) Threads.

Threads launched earlier this week, and 30 million souls have already boarded the ship.

I’m one of them. (Follow me on both platforms @tomruwitch).

What should we call ourselves?

Threaders?

Threadigans?

Threadists?

Threadicians?

Threadventurers?

Threadvocates?

Threadronauts? (Take that, SpaceX!)

Threadmates?

Threadgineers?

Threadizens?

Threadcasters?

Threadkins?

All decent options.

But not good enough. I hereby declare myself and all others on this new platform:

ThreadHeadsšŸ’€

(Put that in your pipe and smoke it.)

Anyhow, back to the cage match.

Tech media have breathlessly predicted Twitter’s collapse.

Twitter has threatened to sue Zuckerberg and his company, Meta, for stealing their IP.

I have no skin in this game. I’m not rooting for one versus the other.

I’m just leaning back in my BarcaLounger, popping a cold one, and watching this Greek drama play out.

(Must-see TV!)

But I also have a business to build — leads to attract, prospects to engage, sales to close.

So I’m gonna spend the next few weeks (or more) experimenting on both platforms. I have various goals:

  • (First and foremost) Build my email list.
  • Increase registrations at my online events.
  • (Bottom line) Generate more sales.

I haven’t been posting much on Twitter, and Threads is brand new.

But starting today, I’m going to post regularlyon both platforms and measure how things go.

I’ll post things you won’t get from me elsewhere.

I’ll share results and lessons with you — occasionally here, but also on the social platforms. So…
