Deadly Myths You Must Avoid
In ancient days, when he was the first emperor of a unified China, Qin Shi Huang, was obsessed with immortality.
He issued an executive order for officials across his kingdom to search for a potion that would give him eternal life.
At some point on this quest, he began consuming cinnabar (sounds tasty).
He thought it was the elixir of life (it isn’t).
Cinnabar is mercury sulfide. Mercury is poisonous (very).
Qin Shu Huang died on this day in 210 BC — probably from mercury poisoning.
“Cinnabar can help you live forever?” That’s an emperor-killing myth.
Here’s a business-killing myth (there are so many):
“If I send emails chock full of important information, readers will be wowed by my expertise and fall at my feet.”
Here’s the truth: Information, alone, is boring and will drive away prospects…
