Chuck E. Cheese Busted (and The Good News for You)

rat

A long, long time ago, I was on the lower east side of Manhattan when I saw…

…a big, fat rat, walking backwards…

…dragging a foot-long slice of New York style pizza across the sidewalk.

He pulled the thing with his teeth a good 50 feet before he and the slice disappeared into his hidey hole behind some garbage cans.

That’s not something you can un-remember.

Maybe that’s why I hate Chuck E. Cheese.

I know. I know. His employers claim Chuck is a mouse. But I’ve always smelled a rat.

Anyhow, all those memories flooded back to me when I read the news today (Oh boy!) about Chuck E. Cheese being arrested.

It happened in Tallahassee. A customer reported her credit card stolen after she’d hosted a party at the “rat’s” pizza palace.

She noticed some unauthorized charges on the card, and police traced the charges to a guy who worked at the pizza palace.

When police arrived to arrest him, they found him wearing the rat costume.

So they cuffed Chuck E. Cheese and paraded him out of the pizza palace as dozens of little boys and girls — wearing party hats with a drawing of that very same “rat” — looked on in horror.

That’s not something they’ll un-remember.

Here comes a business lesson…

Crime doesn’t pay, but stories about it do.
