An Ode to Noticing
It snowed here in St. Louis on Friday.
By Saturday morning, the melt was on.
Melissa opened the front door to go for a walk.
She began to step on the door mat, but stopped…
…because she saw this…
“Snowy Symmetry” she called it when she texted the photo to me.
That diagonal line near the top of the photo — separating light from dark — is the shadow of our roof (the sun is behind Melissa, to the right).
That triangle of footsteps at the foot of the stairs: Rabbit tracks (did that rabbit know what he was doing?)
I’m glad Melissa noticed…
Someone less attentive might have stepped through the door, trekked a across that doormat, marched through the concrete and brick, eased down the steps, and shuffled through those rabbit tracks…
…all while missing the beautiful snowy symmetry.
But Melissa slowed down and noticed…
…which is something all of us could do more often.
Slow down and notice. You’ll see so much more.
That’s true on a snowy stoop.
That’s true in your business.
Talk less and listen more. You’ll notice what your prospects and clients are saying.
Focus more on others and less on yourself. You’ll notice what your prospects and clients want and need.
The more you notice, the more you’ll sell.
Don't go away yet..
