A Reminder to Strive
It’s July 4. Independence Day in America. The nation’s 248th birthday.
Before I enjoy pool parties, fireworks, and hot dog eating contests, I reflect on the “Founding Fathers” (and so many unnamed Founding Mothers who supported them) and I celebrate…
…their vision, commitment, and courage.
Melissa and I visited Philadelphia last year and went to Independence Hall. We stood in the room where it happened — the Assembly Room where the Second Continental Congress debated and then signed The Declaration of Independence.
Standing in Independence Hall, I thought about all who were there in 1776. All they put on the line. All they sacrificed. All they ultimately gained.
Today, 248 years later, I think about the gift they gave us.
This country isn’t perfect. None is.
Still, this is a nation where those with vision, commitment, and courage can achieve great things.
Independence Day reminds me to strive.
Don't go away yet..
