Wow! Cool! But will it work?

A woman in a light blue dress walks arm-in-arm with a large, friendly-looking white yeti costume character in a snowy forest.

The beautiful blonde “actress” strolls toward the camera and declares, “This video was created by AI.”

Strolling at her side, a furry, white creature who looks like the abominable snowman from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cartoon — only this is a hyper-realistic video, not a cartoon.

Then she’s…

….tapping on her laptop — while skydiving…

…standing in a lava field with a volcano exploding behind her…

…running through a city in a superhero costume, chased by robots…

…kayaking down a whitewater river…

“With the right tools, you can create any visual you can imagine,” she says.

The big promise: “Scale your business with incredible content.”

Wow! Cool!

But here’s what I’m left wondering:

If everyone has AI at their disposal…

…if any schmuck with a computer can press a few buttons and put themself in a lava field or skydiving through the air or being chased by robots…

…how will one person stand out from another?

The answer: They won’t if AI is the primary tool in their utility belt.

I like AI, and I use it often to save time and money on repetitive tasks.

I like the idea of using AI to help with video creation.

But all these super-duper special effects that AI gives us?

They’re never going to be the difference-maker if you want to be the human to hire in your niche.

The business-building difference-maker will be:

The stories you tell.

Craft stories that demonstrate you understand your audience. Craft stories that build human connection.

We get chosen and hired when we can say to our prospect: “I understand where you are. I feel what you’re feeling. I understand where you want to go—and I can help you get there.”

When someone thinks, “Wow, you really get me”—that’s when they tune in, turn on, and hire.

So the first thing to focus on?

Not super-duper AI videos with special effects. Everybody’s going to have those.
