The Dum-dum Who Doesn’t Know What “Rhyme” Means

1250x672

Before you beat on the AI E-Z Button again, you have to hear this one…

Yesterday, as I was celebrating Word Nerd Day, I grabbed a cup of jo with my AI-powered copywriting robot, B-9(?).

I mentioned the holiday and observed, “There aren’t many holiday names that rhyme.” In fact, I couldn’t think of any others.

So I asked B-9(?) to “give me a list of additional holidays that have rhymes in their names.”

B-9(?) replied,

“Here are some additional holidays with rhyming names:”

  • Read Aloud Day
  • Freaky Friday
  • World Singing Day
  • Feasts for Beasts Day.

Hmmmm. Not many rhyming names there. (Never mind that the one rhyme he offered doesn’t seem to exist on any holiday calendar.)

“Most of those holiday names don’t rhyme,” I said. “Can you share ones — real holidays — that actually rhyme?”

B-9(?) took a sip of his coffee, furrowed his brow, and said,

“You’re right; I apologize for the mix-up. Here are some actual holidays with names that rhyme:”

  • Pi Day
  • Star Wars Day
  • Bike to Work Day
  • Eat What You Want Day
  • First Night

Oy!

Do you remember that scene in the Princess Bride when the kidnapper Vizzini keeps saying, “Inconceivable” each time he realizes his plan has gone awry? His henchman Inigo Montoya replies with the great line: “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” Here’s a clip:

So it goes with my robot and “rhyme.”

Here’s what all of this means for you and your biz…

Your AI-powered robots are DUM.

Sure, they can dish out gold. But they also dish out mountains of garbage.

And if you cut/paste that garbage into your market research or content…

…your marketing will flop.

The E-Z button may save you time. But flopping fast is still flopping.

Don’t get me wrong, I love AI. B-9(?) is my buddy and colleague.

But when I put him to work on important things like research and copy writing, I guide and supervise him carefully…

…using frameworks I have tested and proven.

I spell this out in Chapter 10 of my bestseller Story Power Marketing. The chapter is called “F.A.C.T.s About Artificial Intelligence.”

I suggest you read it before you push the AI E-Z button again.
