Stocking Stuffers Day 2: Powerful Persuasion Tips

Day 2 of Story Power Stocking Stuffers.

Before I share with you today’s gift, “7 Ways to Make Your Marketing More Persuasive,” a story for those reluctant to persuade…

A client once told me she didnā€™t want to employ persuasion techniques because she did not ā€œwant to manipulate people.ā€

Thatā€™s a common concern.

Hereā€™s how marketing master Dave Dee answers that concern: The (big) difference between manipulation and persuasion is INTENT.

In Spiderman, Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben put it this way: With great power comes great responsibility.

If you are an ethical businesspersonā€¦

ā€¦if your INTENT is to provide products and services that help your prospectsā€¦

ā€¦if youā€™re willing to turn away a prospect who wonā€™t benefit from your products and servicesā€¦

ā€¦then you should persuade them to actā€¦

ā€¦because acting is in their best interest.

If you are unethicalā€¦

ā€¦if youā€™re looking for the sale at all costsā€¦

ā€¦if you donā€™t care whether your products and services will help the ā€œsuckerā€ who buys themā€¦

ā€¦then the act of convincing and cajoling is manipulation.

Summary: Donā€™t use persuasion tactics manipulate someone to act against their interests.

You have great power to persuade prospects to act.

With that power will come great responsibility…

ā€¦the responsibility to persuade those who will benefit from what you sell.
